Q. Do I need both the Designer's and Tailor's Curves?

A. Yes, the Designer's Curve® is used for all lines above the waist and has a proper front and back armholes. The Tailor's Curve is used not only for the waist, hip line, upper inseam, front crotch curve, back crotch curve, but it is also used for two piece suite sleeves, sleeves, men's patterns and coats and jackets.

Q. I have seen the Designer's Curve and the Tailor's Curve offerred on other sites, are yours the same?

A. No, the others do not have a proper front or back armholes and they are just slightly different version of a standard generic french curve. The other is known as a curve stick and is  just for working on circular skirts. We have trademarks and copyrights on these tools. Beware of imitations!

Q. Is it possible to have a Tru-Fit Pattern seminar in my town?

A.Yes, contact your local sewing machine shop. If they have a mailing list or email list we can conduct a seminar in their store.
Just have them contact us and we will contact them with further details.

Q. Why do I need the see through vellum paper when making patterns with the Lutterloh® System?

A.You need the see through vellum paper because you have to place the miniature pattern down on the board first so the page does not intefere with making the dots.

Q. Why do I need the see through vellum paper when correcting commercial patterns?

A. The see through vellum paper with save your commercial patter from getting cut up.

Q. Why do I need the Advanced Guide to the Lutterloh® Pattern Making System?

A. The Advanced Guide to the Lutterloh® System answers many questions you may have about it.

Q. What is the difference between the Lutterloh System and the Design Books #1, #2, and #3?

A.The Lutterloh System is pattern making to your exact measurements. The Design Books cover how to re design existing patterns, commercial or made to measure. The design books are for any patterns to change the look and design.

Q. Is the ease allowance built into the Lutterloh Patterns that I make from the system?

A. The minimum amount of ease is already built into the Lutterloh Patterns.

Q. Is there seam allowance built into the Lutterloh patterns and how do I add it and how much? .

A. The Seam allowance is not included with the Lutterloh patterns. You can either trace the seam on cloth with tailor's chalk or use the Seam Allowance Guide Arm to add the amount you want since it doesn't have any included with the pattern.

Q. What is the difference between the True Lefthand Kai® scissors and just left hand ones?

A. The True Left hand scissors, the blades are reversed. The Left Hand ones, only the handle is reversed and the handle is 1/2 inch larger than the Tru-Left.

Q. What does the Pattern Design Seminar DVD cover?

A. The DVD covers the 2 1/2 hour live Tru-Fit Classroom Seminar and 1/2 hour Slack Making with sewing instructions for the Lutterloh® System (Sack pattern included with the DVD).

Q. Are there many children's or mens patterns in the Lutterloh® System?

A. There are very few children or mens patterns in the system. They can be purchased separately.

Q. What is difference between the Classic Full Figure Supplements for the Lutterloh® System and the 2XXL Pattern Making System?

A. The Classic Full Figure is for ladies 48-60 inch styles. The 2XXL is for people over 60 inches or 140cm.

Q. Does the Walking Foot fit on any machine?

A. The Walking Foot fits most machines except for Viking and Bernina after 1993 before 1993. You will need a shank adapter for Berninas.

Q. Does the Roller Foot fit on any machine?

A. The Roller Foot fits on most machines. Either take off the whole shank or snap on. Bernina requires 2 special shank adapters. Snap on foot does not work on 10 years or older snap on feet.

Q. What is the difference between the Quarterly Fashion Supplements and the Design Books?

A. With the Fashion Supplements, we do the designing for you. The designs are already put together. With the Design Books, you take the basic patterns and do your own designing from the basic pattern pieces, either commercial or Lutterloh® Patterns. Fashion Supplements are a convenience if you do not want to do your own designing.

Q. Where are the sewing instructions for the Lutterloh System® patterns?

A. There are letters in the corner of the patterns. A is sewed to B, B is sewed to C, and continues in that order. There are no detailed instructions, however there is a symbol page in the system telling you what the pieces are.

Q. Can I purchase the supplements without purchasing the complete manual?

A. Yes you can purchase any supplement separately but keep in mind you will need to special scale.

Q. How often are the supplements published?

A. The Quarterly Fashions Supplements are published in the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. The Childrens, Mens, and Full Figure are published evey 4-6 years.

Q. Can I purchase the Tool Kit or the Special Tape and Scale without purchasing the complete manual? 

A. Yes you can purchase the Tool Kit or just the Special Tape and Scale for the Lutterloh System®.

Q. What are the measurements for the Full Figure and the 2XXL system?

A. The Classic Full Figure are styles designed for ladies 48 to 60 inches. The 2XXL is for people over 60 inches ir 140cm.
